Swagbucks is a website at which you can randomly win “bucks” (or points) simply for searching the web. The bucks can be redeemed for a bunch of different prizes. Oh, did I mention that it culls search results from both Google and Ask? It’s a wonderful way to get free stuff for something you do anyway.
I realize this is mostly very late in the game; I really meant to post this stuff a long time ago but that didn’t work out. Whoops. I apologize to those of you for whom this is all old news.
If the above isn’t reason enough to think Iceland is totally aweseome and worth visiting, the Icelandic Tourist Board launched this really cute tourist inititive called Iceland Wants to be Your Friend.
And in other unrelated linkage, have you guys seen The Seventeen Magazine Project? Essentially, this teenager decided to spend a month living by the sugestions in Seventeen Magazine and blogging about the experience. I realize the month she spent doing this is long over, but I thought it was worth the plug: this girl sounds very smart and self-aware and I really think she deserves a high-five, or something.
One of my problems seems to be that I’m not using my time for any practical or useful thing. I’d consider myself to be doing something useful if I were, say, reading a book. I enjoy reading, but I seem to lack the focus lately to actually sit down and read a book. I know some people read several books a week; I often find myself wishing I could do that because people who are well-read tend to strike me as being really smart (which isn’t to say that other people are stupid; also, just because someone seems smart doesn’t mean they actually are). But then I wonder if they’re really able to enjoy the books they read if they’re speeding through them so fast.
I spend way too much time on the computer, playing Facebook games like Farmville or Cafe World. I find these games addicting, but I don’t think they’re a particularly good use of time. I managed to “master” level three of cupcakes on Farmville, just in time for them to disappear. Here’s the proof:
I wish I could spend less time on the computer and more time on things that actually matter.
